BASIC Orlando (Believing and Serving in Christ)

2413 S. Goldenrod Rd.
Orlando, FL 32822

BASIC Orlando is an inner-city mission that seeks to reach the urban areas of Orlando with the Gospel of Christ. Every night there are between four and six thousand homeless people in the metropolitan Orlando area. These people are involved in a lifestyle that seeks to drag them away from God. Many of the people on the streets fight addiction or have mental trouble. They need Jesus to forgive them of their sins. BASIC connects the homeless disciple of Jesus with other disciples who can encourage them, and help the homeless fulfill God's role for their life.
BASIC is a restoration and education-centered organization. We seek to restore the homeless to society by providing guidance in Christian lifestyle. We also seek to educate interested parties in the spiritual and physical needs of the urban homeless.
You can get involved in the following ways:
- Begin praying for workers to come for the great harvest God has planned for urban Orlando.
- Volunteer with your small group.
- Volunteer yourself to help with the ministry or with organizing supplies.
If Jesus could take two fish and five loaves and feed thousands, imagine what he can do with your time and effort in the city!

God has truly blessed us with this unique and exciting ministry. What a joy it is to serve the Lord and be about His work! Though we look different than many of our fellow Christians, "Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him." (I Corinthians 7:17)
Christian Riders Ministry (CRM) was formed in 1991 by DQ & Beth Roberts at First Christian Church of Bayonet Point, Florida. Being Bikers who had come to know the Lord Jesus Christ, they had an intense burden on their hearts for others in that lifestyle. No other Biker had ever told them that Jesus loved them and valued them highly. That message needed to be carried back. So, they sold everything they owned and began traveling to motorcycle events across the country in a school bus, setting up a ministry service tent and sharing the Gospel.
The objectives were set from the beginning and remain the focus of CRM. First and foremost is to lead Bikers to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Second and equally difficult is to challenge churches to be more receptive of all people. The first objective, leading Bikers to Christ, is accomplished through a tent ministry. CRM travels to secular motorcycle events where a tent is set up. Meals are served, a daily worship service is held, and people are ministered to and counseled. The hours are long and the reception is varied, but CRM remains focused and faithful.

University of Florida Christian Campus House
Bob Gailey, Campus Minister
http://www.ufcch.com
In January of 1977, Bob and Pat Wade opened their living room to a small group of college students for a Bible study. Led by Bob, the first campus minister of the Christian Campus House, that small group grew, making it necessary to find a more permanent location for the newly formed campus ministry.
A small single story house was found within walking distance of the university. The Christian Campus House now had a home. For several years and under the leadership of capable campus ministers, David Hull ('94-'98) and Mike Hoornstra ('99), weekly meetings were held in the house.
Bob Gailey currently serves the Christian Campus House as its first full-time campus minister, along with his wife, Celeste. Under their leadership the Christian Campus House continues to grow. When the group outgrew the house as a meeting place, Tuesday night M&M's (Meal and Message) were moved to the Animal Science Building.
Now, the Campus House has recently purchased property just north of the stadium that is used for its large group weekly meetings. The house still is used throughout the semester for leadership meetings, small groups, and other activities.
